Q: What is the TotalSync system?
A:
TotalSync is a wireless control system that is specifically designed to answer a school's specific needs such as time synchronization for all school clocks, bell synchronization to match the school clocks, a voice messaging gateway for daily announcements, programmable bell schedule with various tones and mass alert messaging during emergency situations.

Q: What are the differences between TotalSync and other time synchronization technologies?
A:
The main difference between Visiplex and its competitors is the fact that the TotalSync system offers much more than just time synchronization. You can start with a simple synchronized clock system and expand it to provide Public Address messaging, wireless bells, emergency voice and text messaging, a network interface and more. Since the system is fully wireless, clocks, speakers and LED displays can be added to expand the system if desired.

Q: Why should I purchase from Visiplex?
A:
Visiplex has been an experienced wireless product manufacturer for over 15 years. Since wireless technology is at the heart of the TotalSync system, Visiplex uses its expertise to provide an elegant adaptation of proven wireless, high powered and FCC approved technology into a selected line of clocks, speakers, alphanumeric displays and more. Visiplex offers an expanded line of competitively priced products suitable for installations ranging from grade schools that require a small wireless system to large campuses needing a powerful networked wireless system with thousands of clocks, speakers, alphanumeric displays and other wirelessly controlled devices. As a well known manufacturer, Visiplex has hundreds of resellers nationwide that can provide professional installation and maintenance services if required.

Q: Can I add Public Address and bell capabilities with the TotalSync system?
A:
One of the most significant advantages of the TotalSync wireless system is the ability to use the system as a Public Address and bell system. Schools that need to replace or expand their existing systems can easily do that by adding wireless speakers that function as a bell and/or as a Public Address messaging system for daily and emergency announcements.

Q: What is the transmission range of the TotalSync system?
A:
The TotalSync System can cover a small elementary school up to an entire university with one transmitter. The TotalSync system uses a paging band to send the voice and data information to all of its wirelessly controlled devices and can use a transmission power of 8-300 watts to provide full coverage for your facility. Visiplex systems are installed in some of the largest universities, medical centers and government facilities in the country, utilizing one transmitter to provide full transmission coverage.

Q: What size transmitter should I choose?
A:
Wireless system coverage is impacted by construction materials, certain shielded areas, antenna positioning, antenna height and overall transmitter power. For example, an average grade school will need a 8 watt transmitter, a high school will need an 8-40 watt transmitter and a large campus will need a 100-300 watt transmitter. To get a better idea of your power needs, call our sales representatives.

Q: How long will the batteries last in the system analog clocks?
A:
Visiplex recommends using Lithium batteries in all TotalSync battery operated clocks, but the clocks can be powered by Alkaline batteries as well. A Lithium battery will last longer than an equal Alkaline battery since its voltage level will not fade with time as Alkaline. It's also environmentally safe. TotalSync clock batteries should last between 2-8 years (depends if Lithium or Alkaline) to provide a long period of maintenance-free operation.

Q: Do I need professional installation?
A:
Most of the TotalSync system components can be installed without the need of professional installers. All of the systems that use a magnetic mount antenna (transmitter power of less than 40 watts) can be installed with a simple mounting procedure, by placing the antenna on a large metal base. Since the entire system is wireless, all of the other components can be installed without any professional assistance. If your system is designed to cover a very large facility, such as an entire university or medical center, it is recommended to use a professional installer to install the transmitter antenna on a chosen roof. If you need or choose to have a professional install the system, Visiplex can offer installation services by our staff or recommend one of our dealers in your area.

Q: How does the TotalSync system cost compare with a hard-wired system?
A:
The primary cost difference between a wireless system and a hard wired system relates to the costly wiring of the facility and future related wiring problems. For example, a 100,000 sq. ft. facility with 100 clocks, will cost approx. $15,000 for system parts, and approx $10,000 to wire the building. This represents a savings of 40% in the total project cost. Another cost saving factor with a wireless system is that there is no need for expensive service calls for wiring problems or product relocation since it can be done easily by the user.

Q: Will the system keep running when the power goes out?
A:
In case of a power outage, the TotalSync battery operated clocks will continue to display the correct time. The powered speakers will be non-active during that period of time (unless equipped with an optional backup battery). The transmitter and encoder will also be non-active (unless equipped with a power backup UPS). Upon resuming power, the encoder will start transmitting the accurate time to all system wireless components.

Q: Can I expand my system and add more clocks, speakers, etc?
A:
One of the most significant advantages of a wireless system is the ability to add more wireless controlled devices and expand the system as needed. The TotalSync system provides broad options in addition to adding clocks and speakers. You can start with a simple clock system and later expand the system to provide Public Address messaging, activation of wireless bells, network interface, etc.

Q: What is the quality of the TotalSync components?
A:
All components of the TotalSync System meet high-quality industry standards, use industry proven technologies and have been field-tested.
